About Me
For as long as I can remember, I've had a deep love for fibre arts. Growing up, I was surrounded by talented individuals like my mum, who was a skilled knitter, a friend's mum who excelled in macramé, and a family friend who was a master of cross stitch and embroidery. Witnessing the transformation of yarn into beautiful creations through skilled handiwork always left me captivated.
The Journey Begins
Although my heart was set on learning to knit, my mum's teaching style didn't quite match my eagerness. To say we were both impatient is an understatement! Instead, she handed me a crochet hook, a bit of yarn, demonstrated the chain stitch, and that was the start of my crochet journey. In those days, online tutorials were non-existent, so my repertoire of stitches was quite limited until a family friend stepped in to broaden my skills. From that moment onwards, there was no turning back for me.
A New Chapter
Fast forward to 2016, when the exciting news of our daughter's pregnancy marked the beginning of a new creative chapter. The imminent arrival of our first grandchild propelled me to immerse myself in crocheting, acquiring yarn, hooks, and patterns in abundance. I poured my heart into crafting numerous items for the baby, even taking a blanket I was working on during a memorable train holiday across Europe – a well-travelled creation indeed.
The Birth of Little Red Frog Designs
Encouraged by my supportive family, especially after the joy of creating for my granddaughter, I felt compelled to expand my horizons by delving into creating and selling my handmade pieces. Since then, my journey has been nothing short of amazing, and I am eagerly looking forward to the adventures that lie ahead. Since our move to Cumbria, I've been inspired by my beautiful surroundings, trying to use more sustainable products.
